I would like to cut down to 185, I feel my diet is on track & it's only a matter of time.
I would like to take in as much BJJ theory as physically and mentally possible. I can breathe, Tie shoes & ties without thinking. I would like to escape, sweep & submit with the same second nature.
I would also considder a tournament later in the year. _________________ Big Tommy! |

unfortunately my new years resolution is starting a bit late as i'm sick as a dog, but wants up healthy again, mine is to get my cardio where it should be, my timing with my strikes where it should be and to continue to grow technically with both my jui jitsu and striking, my plan this year is to hopefully fight in full contact whether it be mma or muay thai, also i have started playing the violin again thats right i said, i kick ass and play the violin, i am a complicated man. _________________ Pain is Temporary, Pride is Forever |

Nice Doug, I always wanted to learn piano and guitar. It'll have to wait for another year though. This year I am going to get as fit and healthy as i can be. I definetly want to get in the ring this year and I'm ready to put in the hours.

I don't usually set resolutions in the New Year, as anytime I see a need to improve something in my life I start at it right away.
Having said that, and just experiencing a good beating on my birthday (I wasn't submitted, but gassed horribly!), my resolution to myself will be to improve my cardio and stamina. I want to improve my strength somewhat. While my goal will be to improve my technique so I don't have to out-muscle an opponent, it would be good to be able to dig deep when I get into trouble.
I have also promised myself that I will enter a tournament this year. This will require me to get over my anxiety of fighting in front of an audience (I experience a significant nausea with the anticipation of a bout.....even in front of the class, but get over it once contact is made). From what I hear these tournaments are quite rewarding. |

who is Docg - is it Ed? I'm a fan of Doc G. He (I assume) is starting to understand the essence of Jiu Jitsu regarding the use of strength over techinique.
I also don't want anyone to be peer pressured into tournaments. If you want to do them, do them, if not, train hard anyway to meet your personal goals. You might just want to get Jiu Jitsu sexy.
I also heard that the 2 individuals completed only half the birthday circle on Monday. is this true? Sounds like their missing out. We can make it up on Thursday if you want. The circle is like being born again.
have fun folks - my birthday is Feb 9th????????? ooops did i say that??? did you ever see Sanguebom run??? you will on that day!!!

Although his work has been horribly misconstrued by many (3rd Reich) I do like the idea of Nietzsche's "Obermensch" (especially as I get older). The pursuit to be better than the standard definition and to seek out perfection within oneself is a great mantra and something that can be personalized for anyone. Even if perfection is unattainable the idea that you can always do better is in a way a continuous resolution.
I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and I look forward to seeing all of you over the coming year. By the way, was anyone else stunned when Mir dropped Nog the way he did? |

Graham's creating the master race? Hahaha. Just kidding bro..
Nietzsche is sick. Read alot of his stuff in high school.
Mir's win actually didnt suprise me much. He came in there in shape and with a game plan and executed it perfectly. What did suprise is how brutal and lethargic Nog looked. I initially though maybe he's just been in too many wars and his body is starting to shut down. But Clint mentioned something about him possibly having a staph infection which would totally make sense (ie- Diego vs Koscheck 2) |

| Yes, Nog was just coming off Staphe infection treatment and could not train. You win some and you lose some - he may get a rematch. |
