From the Sherdog site:
"Tom Waters walked away with a unanimous decision over Mike Hong in a bout that saw plenty of leather thrown, but little damage sustained by either fighter. Hong landed the crisper strikes, but Waters utilized takedowns and held top position in rounds one and two."
"Sensing he was down on the judges’ cards, Hong attempted to pick up the pace in the third round, attacking Waters with strikes that forced him to retreat. However, it wasn’t enough to sway the judges."
It sure sounds like Mike can hold his head up high. I'd love to hear from ringside to hear the whole story. |

I sincerly appreciate the love and support from all you guys. It's great to have such an awesome team.
Last night was a good fight. I didn't finish up on my combinations like I should have. I felt the last round was going my way, but it was a little too late.
Tom Waters fought a good fight. My hats off to him and his camp.
Next step: get back in the gym and start training again.
This was a valuable lesson for me. We will all learn from this and move forward and stronger.
Besides, someone's got to pay for this. |

Mike fought an awesome fight, there is such a thing as "losing well" and mike demonstrated that on Saturday. Aside from a couple of take downs, the fight was very close. wait till you see the footage. His movement and footwork was really a treat to watch. I even saw a bit of Muhammad Ali in his style. Quite a few other fight teams in attendance congratulated him on his performance. The Hurricane, should be proud. Now lets get back to work. _________________ "When you drink the water, thank the man who dug the well" |

I had the pleasure of attending the fights Saturday...man, I wish Mike had had another round (or two) in that fight. It was one to watch...the crowd was really into it.
Way to go Mike!
PS there's a Ottawa Sun photogal here....with a nice shot of Mike feeding his opponent some leather.

Mike was certainly in control of the striking however, It comes a time when everyone is with defeat. The true test is how you bounce back from it. Mike is a true leader and will not let this slow him down. As for fighting true fighters, you have to be the best. The higher you go the tougher it gets.
Everyone with enough experience in this sport knows that 1 has to win and 1 has to lose. Tom Waters is a cool cat and fought a strong fight.
